Historical evidence can be seen all over Hennef: late Gothic architecture, the Marien pilgrimage church, manor houses, Allner castle and idyllic timber-facade houses. The medieval town of Blankenberg (7 km) is a popular excursion destination. Also worth visiting are the former capital of Bonn and Cologne with its charming town centre and the "Haus der Deutschen Geschichte" (museum of German history).
