Good starting point for excursions to Florence (40 km) and Siena (45 km). In the renovated farmhouse there are 2 apartments with beamed ceilings and terracotta floorings. Simple and country style furnished, both with outdoor area with garden furniture and sharing the grounds. The main house is sometimes occuoy by the owners. Possible heating by stoves. Certaldo Certaldo, in the centre of the Elsa valley, comprises of a new part situated in the valley and a historical centre situated on the upper levels. Every year, in July there is a multicoloured medieval fair. The village is famous because the well known writer Giovanni Boccaccio, author of "Decamerone" was born there. Historical resort with 15'000 inhabitants, in the centre of the region, on top of a hill, 50 km south-west from Firenze, 50 km north-west from Siena. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort. Thermal pool at 9 km. Access: Firenze-Siena - (Poggibonsi) - SS. 429. Access by train (Firenze/Pisa) - Empoli - Siena. Railway station in the resort. For arrivals by plane: airport Firenze (FLR) 60 km, Pisa (PSA) 70 km.
