Certaldo Certaldo, in the centre of the Elsa valley, comprises of a new part situated in the valley and a historical centre situated on the upper levels. Every year, in July there is a multicoloured medieval fair. The village is famous because the well known writer Giovanni Boccaccio, author of "Decamerone" was born there.
